Steeped in Ramayana legend, Yahangala is the rock where King Ravana was laid to rest after he was killed by Lord Rama in the final battle.
All of his countrymen were devastated by his death and it was here that they came to pay their respects for their honourable King.
‘Yahangala’ means bedrock in Sinhala. His body is said to be hidden on the left side of the rock. This rock gives beautiful 360 degree views of the surrounding landscapes.
